With a corporate career spanning more than 15 years across several sectors including consulting, public sector, manufacturing, retail, and investments, Ronnie has developed a wide-ranging skill set over the years in business leadership, BBBEE compliance, human capital, operations, strategy development & execution, governance & compliance, corporate communications, budgeting & financial management, IT, facilities & property management, and corporate social responsibility.
He has served in the role of Group Chief Operations Officer for over 6 years, being responsible for all the operational functions in the business. The implementation of the Group 5-year strategic framework which is undergirded by our investment pillars and core values, is one of the core deliverables for the role. Ensuring that business units and departments are aligned, resourced, and geared to deliver on the defined strategic goals.
Some of the highlights in his career include the nomination to participate in the Walmart Global Emerging Leaders Programme in 2015, in Arkansas, USA, as part of the HR Director’s talent succession pipeline. Ronnie successfully led the Massmart EVP development and implemented various HR systems and solutions at Group level, which had an impact at divisional level nationally. Furthermore, Ronnie successfully led the implementation of ISO9001 certification, a great achievement for an investment holding firm.
Industry-wise, he is the winner of the 2015 Standard Bank Rising Star Awards in the Retail and Manufacturing sector. He currently serves on the University of South Africa Industrial & Organisational Psychology Advisory Board, made up of several industry representatives who contribute to the University’s curriculum development. Recently, Ronnie was appointed to be an Non-Executive Director at Pik it Up, which is an integrated waste management company owned by the City of Johannesburg. He is also the Chairperson of the Social Ethics, HR and Remuneration Committee.
To ensure that he is always up to date with corporate governance matters, Ronnie is a member of the Institute of Directors in South Africa (IoDSA). Over the last 6 years, he has deepened his practical understanding of corporate governance, including preparing and presenting board reports.
